A depredation hunt is being conducted in Anderson County in the coming weeks. It has been stated that TWRA agreed to a depredation hunt requested by county commission. However, TWRA would only agree if they could supply their own hunters. Where does TWRA get their pool of hunters from and why isn't it opened up to county residents who have the proper license and hunters safety course card? After all, we pay county taxes and buy an annual sportsman license every year. I would like to better understand the reasoning behind this decision.

I would suggest contacting Region IV at (423) 587-7037.
I have heard nothing about such a hunt.

Thanks SCN, I will give region IV a call. BTW, the article is in the Jan 27 issue of THE COURIER NEWS, a Clinton TN paper. Front page.

I called Region IV office and it has been decided to allow participants from a fall draw hunt that was held there. There must have been a lot of people call in to TWRA and the Anderson County Commissioners' office. I am happy that someone decided to do the right thing.
I have the paper in front of me but chose not to scan and post it due to copyright laws.

I had never heard of it. I suspect it is much like the Norris Watershed hunts. The city/county governments control the draw because it is their land. They do not open it up to statewide, and they make it next to impossible for someone that works everyday during the week to get a tag.
