I need some help. In our master bathroom the shower light went out. When you walk in there are three switches right there on the wall. One for over the sink, one for over the tub, and one for over the shower. I went and got bulbs and replaced the light over the shower but it still doesnt work. Checked the breakers and they are all good. Tried the new bulbs in a lamp and its good. Anybody got any advice on where to start. Checking the breaker is about as far as my electrical knowledge goes.

Look for either a GFCI breaker in breaker box or GFCI outlet in the bathroom. It'll be ones with the reset and trip buttons on em. Lights in shower are required to be GFCI protected. Hope this helps.

You're a genius. As soon as I read this it hit me. This actually happened one time before and there is a GFCI in the bathroom but it was fine. I forgot there is a GFCI breaker in the walk in closet and that one is for the shower. Went and looked and sure enough, red light was glowing. Pushed it in now and it's fine. Hopefully I'll remember for next time.
Thanks!!

Does the light over the shower have a exhaust fan and heater build with light as part of it, This could be a difference if it does check the heater/fan operation to see if they work. Next step would be to check the llight switch on the wall. really need some ele knowledge to do this. Also sometimes the light bulb base will give trouble. As 74MOPAR said do the other lights work--if not check the GFD ground fault detector reset for that circuit. Little red button on a one of the outlets in the bathroom or on the main switch in the fuse box. Good luck.
