I got my jon boat registerd and ready. I am wanting to fish tims ford this spring but my friend thinks the waves off some of the faster boats might capsize us. What do yall think? I am new to this boating thing.

Width is as important, if not more, than length. A 42 inch bottom can handle it. A 30 inch bottom is not the best idea.

I have ridden some waves from bigger boats on the Cumberland river and dale hollow lake in my 14 x 32 Jon boat with no problem. If it gets real choppy tough I'd be nervous. If your boat is wider then it shouldn't be a problem.

32" bottom will stay floating USUALLY.
Better safe than sorry on larger bodies of water is my experience.

I fish Tim's in a 1436 quite a bit. It can get a little dicey when the wind starts howling, but you'll be ok. If it starts getting over 15 mph, I will usually stick to the coves. Woods is a completely different animal, if it's over 15 mph I won't be on the water. I have a gray jonboat with a flying WV on the side. Stop by and say "hi" sometime.

Also,
I put in at pleasant grove as well, good ramp for jonboats because of the tight cove. Even if the wind is really blowing the water isnt too wavy back there.
