Years ago I hunted a dairy farm and the coyotes were like impossible to call in.

Always a dead cow or calf laying around for them to eat.

Where I hunted Saturday is on a beef farm, same deal.

So short of using a cow call, how do you hunt them?

Not sure how that property is set up, but a farm a buddy and me hunt on that has cows on it also has alot of hills and hollers. Its nothing to see them laying at the bottom of a holler or in a ditch in the fields. Better be ready for a running shot on them tho \:\)

We've also called several up on the property tho. But even deer hunting or just riding around we always see one or more just laying in the fields i guess waiting on a cow or calf to mess up.

Funny you say that I have a few calf sounds on my foxpro and it works.

I think coyotes are programmed to come to a dieing rabbit.. they are like largemouth bass...they never get full.. probably just one of those days..

Yeah that would work. \:D

Honestly, call me weird or whatever, but just like walking in that morning we saw a coyote and MIGHT could have shot him, but unless I call him in I don't have any desire to kill it.

I know that don't make sense, but hey, we are talking about me here. \:D

Well if they have food and they know it..... Trigger their territorial Instinct and challenge them with other coyote vocals. You might not be hungry but you don't want me sneaking in your kitchen stealing your ribeyes do you?? \:\)

What Titansfan said. I've hunted with guys that have only used rabbit, bird, or other distress sounds. When I'd start barking or using a hurt pup sound they thought I was crazy. But it works. One guy got to watch a coyote as it tried to figure me out. He was 30 yards from me behind some trees. I couldn't see him but my hunting partner could. The dog knew something was going on and couldn't help but take a look. Don't be afraid to change things up.
