What is everyones opinion on red dot scopes to help my 8 yr old get first turkey and what kind do you prefer?

there is another thread somewhat on this topic from the past month or so...try and find that one with some more responses.
As far as the scope they all have pros and cons. I personally dont like the tube style red dots as they really handicap my field of view and I just cant get comfortable with that.
However i do like the Halo style red dots like the Mueller Quick shot and the Burris FastFire 3 (as examples). once dialed in the really eliminate any POI issues and issues with keeping your head down on the barrel (which can really be an issue with young kids)
again those also have cons, I missed a bird 2 years ago because i forgot to turn it on, also you hear of people forgetting to change the batteries and it be dead when they get to the woods so it has its issues as well.
An actual scope helps in magnification and low light sight, however can be an issue on a gun with a lot of recoil and also limit your field of view.
They can all have positives and for a kid i think they can help but you have to weight out the cons before deciding. I have one gun that i keep a Mueller Quick shot on and i have another gun i just use the bead with. Both have their purposes and times i use them.
as far as brands just depends on what you want to spend....
For the money the Mueller quick shot is a great product at around $100 new. If you want better options and a bit more quality then the Burris FF2 is awesome or the Burris FF3 for a bit more. IMO those are some of the best out there for the $$
Ecotech is also a VERY good product but it is a bit pricey.

I don't have one on my gun but I have hunted with my dad's scoped gun when he doesn't go because I like it. He has a cheap truglo, they are only like 30$-40$. It has no magnification, and you dont have to keep your head down on the stock. Field of view is not hindered that much by it.
If it is sighted in, wherever that red/green dot is, it will hit. Just carry back up batteries in your vest. I thought it would be a problem about batteries running dead, but im so concisous about it when I use it that it has never happened.
I recommend the red dot scopes.

I put a 20 dollar bsa red dot scope on my turkey gun. Best 20 bucks I have spent. Been on there for years , no problems.
