I posted this on facebook and got quite a few different answers and ways to get those answers.
I'm curious what i will get here, so if you like, give an answer but please include how you got it....thanks.
If I wanted to run a 28:00 minutes 5K, 3.2 miles, at what speed (mph) would I need to average to accomplish this.
The reason I ask is that I want to accomplish this and want to train on a treadmill at this mph.....I realize that road running and treadmill running is not the same, but I can more easily train on a treadmill by setting it at this mph ...
Please include your formula.....I'll tell you what i came up with later, but I'm not sure I am right.
again...participate if you want or not, your choice,and thanks to those that do..

x = 3.2/28 = 0.114285
0.114285*60 = 6.8571MPH

60 minutes = 1 hour so 28 minutes = 0.46667 hours
3.2 miles divided by 0.46667 hours = 6.86 mph for your average.

Roughly 7 mph is what it was taking me to run it,when I was running regularly.
