Got started on the repair/rebuild. I had 47" of 2" square tubing. I've cut off the old tongue a foot or so back and then cut the bottom of the tubing back another 18" under the trailer. I heated up the old tongue and pressed the new tubing into the old. I'm going to run two 5/8" bolts through and then weld the seams.

I can see a slight twist in the old metal and keeps the hitch end from being square. It's not TOO bad, but I'm going to try and twist that out before I put the new hitch on.

Should be "Good to go" in another day or so \:D

You don't remember a few months ago when Bowriter told Crappie he was making a mental to never go anywhere with him because it was hazardous to one's health? \:D

Glad everyone was ok. I had a riding mower come off of a trailer 1 time. Tilt trailer. The cheap straps broke. It came off on a 2 lane road and it never crossed the center line or the white line on the right. Tore the transmission out, brackets and some other things. I hadn't had it but about 2 months. I am just glad for some reason i looked in the rear view mirror and saw this mower following me at about 45 miles an hour. Scared me but funny now.

Glad you're ok, and no one was hurt. Several years ago in Oak Ridge, a trailer broke loose from a vehicle and hit a car head on killing 4 men.
