Some of them are French Foreign Legion and they are definitely not sissys. In fact, most of the French Foreign Legion troops are not even French.

That's what I was thinking, too. Comparing the FFL to regular French Army is about like Navy SEALS to JRTOC.

Yes, Legionnaires are from everywhere. I met some while serving overseas, and they were from Texas.

Yes, Legionnaires are from everywhere. I met some while serving overseas, and they were from Texas.
One tour in the gulf we used some FFL lowboys and one of the guys riding shotgun was from IL.
We swapped MRE's for french rations, they definately got the better of the deal, they were awful. He also said in the conversation, that while impressed with the overall esprit de corp and discipline of the FFL, his time in the US Army was far better.
