I have one in 9mm. I haven't shot it a bunch (probably about 200 rounds), but has fired JHP and several brands of HP with no problems. I really like it - not much felt recoil for quick followup shots, and the interchangable backstraps lets you customize the grip for your sized hand. For a subcompact with a short sight radius, it is very accurate too. I believe that some of the very early guns had some problems (can't remember the details) but reports are no problems after the first year of production models.

It was in the interchangeable backstrap. Cleaning instructions said to remove it to clean/field strip and that is not neccessary to do. However constant field stripping wore on the mechanism (because IF the backstrap is off, the gun won't shoot)and would cause it not to fire.
I have a .40 and it's my primary carry gun..love it, accurate, and dependable.

Ah, that is right! I remembered that there was an issue that was easily solved, but not specifically what it was. Of course everyone's grip and what feels "right" to them is different, but the PPS is the most comfortable pistol that I have shot, and is certainly worth looking at if that is the size and caliber carry piece you are shopping for.
Oh, in my first post I meant to say that I have had no malfunctions with FMJ or HP.

I guess the Germans don't like to unload their weapons before they clean them so Walther put in ANOTHER safety device other than common sense....Dumkoffs
