Wouldn't mind tryin that.

The longest distance I've shot with my 74 was 600 yards.

Once I got on paper, I don't remember having trouble keeping it in the black of the standard target used at that range. I can't, off the top of my head, give you the target number but it was pretty big.

My group wasn't all that great, but I was shooting off cross sticks and just having fun. I still remember thinking that I wouldn't want to be shot at at that distance with that gun and those big 500 grain bullets.

I bet the wind isn't blowing. A shot at that distance with a 10mph cross wind would be impossible with a bullet that large and moving that slow. A mile with anything is a long ways.

Can I make a 1 mile shot now? No. Could I make it 20 years ago? I am not at liberty to answer that question.

there was wind in the picture, aka smoke in lower right hand corner of pic, most of the good shooters out west can "read" the wind better than a baptist preacher can read the bible.

some of the shots they may simply amaze me

reading the wind with common sense approach is my goal for this spring, but I will not be shooting but 500 yards

I have put 10 shots in a 4.5 inch circle at 300 yards in a 20 mph cross wind, once I got the hang of it, it was basically no problem, it really surprised me as to the accuracy maintained.

the wind always blows out west especially across deep ravines or canyons, plus factor in "mirage" some of these guys are masters of this type shooting
