Story of Tennessee wounded warrior at link. It should be noted that he immigrated from Germany and was adopted by the Walkup family, and that his older adoptive brother, Army Lt Frank Walkup, was killed in action in Iraq in 2007. Not all citizens of the Volunteer State were born here, but Tennessee has every right and duty to proudly claim Sgt Walkup as one of our own.

I share your sentiments, but the number and severity of the gunshot wounds he sustained mitigate against that. He was shot at close range by one of our so-called Afghan "partners" he and his unit had been deployed to train, protect and mentor. One U.S. soldier was killed and several others wounded in the same incident.

When I read how many times he'd been shot and where, I was shocked he survived. He definitely has the heart of a warrior.
