I posted this question in the General Forum. I should have put here I believe. I have an older Rem. 7400 that the clear coat/laquer is peeling off of. Can anyone tell me how to get the rest off and what to put back on there? Do I need a gunsmith to do this or can I do it my self?
Thanks in advance!

Strip the stock and forearm with stripper then refinish them. There are several tutorials on the net on how to refinish them. Im in the process if refinishing a Remington Model 7 stock now.

Strip, coarse sand, fine sand, and rub Tru-Oil on by hand, buff with steel wool. Repeat the process until you like what you see. Seal with a good wax or poly-urethane.
