Not true.. Although the NRA made some definitive statements this was GRASSROOTS all the way..
The NRA didn't even pull out of the show until a couple days ago..

The NRA didn't even pull out of the show until a couple days ago..
Nra and venders pulled out, its a good thing

NSSF Statement on the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show
January 24, 2013
We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.
In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.
NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).
Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

It was the 170 vendors and special guest speakers who pulled out that caused them to shut it down.
It was pushing 300 vendors pulling out before they pulled the plug.

THe NRA was not taking the credit for it. The Writer of this story was more or less creditting them.
The NRA was given the Venders credit for it for pulling out and shutting it down.
Even boat manufactures pulled out when they heard about banning the sporting rifles.
Weather you Like everything the NRA does or not, the fact is, the NRA gets the blame or credit for it if has to do with guns and 2A no matter what.
They are looked at by ALL the others as the voice of gun rights and the 2A.
I think we also need to stop getting caught up in anti-gunners game also of calling them "Assault weapons" and call them ONLY what they are, SPORTING RIFLES.
I know ,and we know thier not, but i catch myself and others saying assault weapons sometimes when talking about them

NSSF needs to pull the SHOT show from Reed Exhibitions. Give them one chance. Change your mind. Now.
If no change from Reed, then NSSF must roll down the road and find another organizer, I would wager many would line up.
I see the cancellation is getting big time media play. Now, lets see how this shakes out.
