I know there is a cooking forum but figured I would get quicker responses here.
I like ground meat. Never ate the roast. Trying to prepare it correctly so I will want it in the future..
Shiny stuff need to come off? Been soaking in tomatoe juice over night to get blood ect drawn out.
Plan on putting in pot with Ranch powder, gravy powder, water onions, carrots, potatoes. 8hrs low
any other suggestions?

take off shiny silver stuff. i use cream of mushroom , cream of onion soups, red potatoes , some spices and water to cover the roast. crockpot on low all day. i will pull the roast up and most of the time it falls right off the bone. put back in to stir it up and your set.

Cover or wrap in bacon. Use very little water. I like ot use a lot of veggies to provide the liquid. I mix 1/2 can of water with a can of cream of mushroom soup and pour over. 6-8 hours on low is about right. Just be extra sure to trim as well as you can.

Leave the "Cream of _____" canned soups in the pantry.
Don't worry about "drawing the blood out"....it's a waste of time. While it's soaking in tomato juice, add some olive oil, salt, pepper, minced garlic, and herbs....might as well turn that tomato juice into a marinade.
Brown the roast before crock potting it. Just pat it dry completely before throwing it in the skillet.
As for liquid, ditto Bowriter....use a small bit of red wine instead of water. Use a bit of that marinade, as well.

Also ya might want to try a roast with a dry rub on it. Cheap and simple, McCormick's Savor Herb seasoning is absolutely delicious! I can eat a dry rub venision roast by itself for supper!

I hate to sound like a moron, I just dont want to ruin this for me or my wife
