Ditch the fern. Sweet mount though.
Yeah, it looks like a corsage your great grandmother might wear to her sister's funeral

Coach- that is the way I use to look back when I was still drinking.

Give some thought to doing one with one shoulder and one leg as if stepping out. Just Do NOT have the leg reaching as though it is trying to paw something. Have it solid on the ground. I wish I had a picture of one to show you.
A one-leg/shoulder mount should not be any more expensive than a regular shoulder mount. They are not hard to do. The key is in the pedestal. I prefer a log to a rock and I like a lot of greenery with the foot and leg almost hidden.
I recent years, I have become somewhat of a fan of one side type mounts. They work so well in corners and there is so much that can be done with them. It was many years before I saw a bear mount that I would have had in my house. Lately, I have seen some great ones.
Possibly in the not so distant future, I will be bringing some of my mounts home from other locations. I have idea where I am going to put them. I have one or two that are somewhat "different".
it wouldnt be that much more to the mount...but remember a form would probably still need two legs when ordering and now the taxidermist has to cut the form ..which isnt to hard as long as you cut straight LOL...plus tanneries charge by the linear foot on bears and dont care if you have one leg or two or 4 with feet or not..or they charge for shoulder, 1/2 LS or LS by the foot. ..so Id bet it would be the same cost as a half lifesize mount wherever you go..or IMO it should be...plus the cost of the base..which could be as big or small as youd need. But that is a cool ideal and if I get to do as planned come august. and my son gets one if plans come together. I may just do something like that for him.

JA1234 is correct that there would be more expense from the tanning and supply side of things and a more work on the taxidermist part in sewing and altering a form...and yes i would charge a 1/2 lifesize mount price for that
I have a bear shoulder mount that i did for myself in my shop for customers to see and do not like the way it looks, when i get caught up I will be doing a 1/2 lifesize bear (that I killed in canada last year), not sure if I will do the 1 leg or two leg thing yet but it will not be in an aggressive pose....probably a slight open mouth with habitat around it..
bowriter - love the lifesize buck...
