Just looked up your mould online. I understand the principle behind the mould staying at a particular temperature when the hot lead comes in contact. I am wondering, how does this family of moulds accomplish that? You have a special heater, thermometer?

I guess the secret, aside from what appears to be a very expensive piece of engineering, is practice practice practice. Are those moulds all single cavity? How do you keep mould and lead at same temp? Does the premium lead you use make that big a difference?

here is my procedure

1. while my mould is cold, I place a Q-tip into the sprue hole and spray the entire outside of mould with Frank Arsenol mould prep

2. I use a 20# lead pot heated with a 35000 btu propane burner

3. as soon as I turn burner on I place mould on edge of lead pot to slowly heat the mould, I also keep a rubber band on the mould handles to keep each half of mould married together while heating up

4. I use a ladle to pour lead, this works the best with large grain bullets, mine are 421.7 +/- grains each

5. I only use 30:1 certified lead purchased from Rotometals or Buffalo Arms

6. I always remelt the first 3 bullets

7. while pouring I keep the ladle married to the mould for a "5 mississippi count, once I remove the ladle from mould I pick back up on my count at "6 mississippi and continue counting to 20 mississippi, cut the sprue off and drop the bullet

8. I cast a 750 degrees

the heater is basically a camping type heater
I use a RCBS therm. to monitor the pot temperature.

even though my "mississippi count thingy" does not reflect the true time, according to a clock, it takes about 50 seconds per bullet.

the mould stays over the pot the entire process except to cut sprue and to drop bullet.
