I was contacted back by the manager, He provided me his number and time he will be available to talk.

Basically said the same thing to me....mis-information out there and spreading fast.

Make Coal Creek an archery only area and sell a hunting permit in addition to the riding permit. With this aditional permit is a guide addressing rules of conduct. One such rule would be that harvested animals must be covered when returning to the parking area. These changes will greatly reduce the number of hunters, remove the safety issues and avoid alarming or offending non-hunters on the property.

Thank you for your consideration,

Darren

I bow hunt but i would never go against gun hunters, dang when are all hunters going to stick together. I see this in my home dumb jackwagon state of new york. Sometimes i feel bow hunters really hurt hunting as a whole.

The "misinformation" or "rumor" came to me directly from their security officer when I went there to coyote hunt this past weekend. He stated that it would be on the permit next year that no hunting is allowed. I suggested bow hunting because of the ever growing number of ATV riders in the area. It's not a matter of hunters sticking together. Most hunters do both. It's a matter of addressing their safety concerns. I could see where they might worry about a rider being struck by a stray bullet. Bow hunting would be a way to avoid them banning hunting completely or begin enforcing a no hunting rule that was never on the permit.

If there is any truth to this Coal Creek is taking the wrong side. It's the anti-hunters who are also against logging, coal mining, fracking of oil wells and oil exploration in general. In my opinion, I think they should be open to hunting 1st and then have OHV permits available for the rest of the year! And I told them so when I emailed them.

F.W.I.W. the security officer stated that a lot of people were upset about the hunting issue, so apparently I'm not the only person he's stopped. He gave me a very specific list of reasons. I've been hunting and riding up there since before they even had permits and I had never seen this guy before. He was checking permits at the entrance from the parking lot. I'm beginning to wonder if he's just a new gung-ho officer getting a bunch of people fired up over nothing. I certainly hope so.

From their Website:
Hours of use
The Coal Creek OHV Area is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. A Land Use Permit is required to access the area.

Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the area.
Membership is not required.

" Everyone is Welcome"

Seems to me that a mining company doesn't want to side with a bunch of Liberals that want to also take away mining....
