I did some research and found out that rockfish don't go all the way to the dam. They stay down the caney fork river, do you know any spots for trying for rockfish down river, an common spot that rockfish are caught. Thanks!! they absolutely do go to dam we got a 36 lbs there three years ago

Striperhunter, where do you think it's the best spot to fish for stripers during generation, next to the dam or down river. I've heard that people catch monster stripers down river on lures in summer months. I'm looking for my first striper and I'm all about catch n release. Thanks!!

I've seen them in the water while wading and trout fishing as far up as Happy Hollow but I know for a fact that on high water and heavy generation they move all the way up to the dam. Throw large swimbaits as close to the wall as you can get them and let them drift downstream. Keep no slack in the line and wait for the strike. To my understanding none of them will be in the Caney this time of year but some say otherwise, that there may be a few here and there. Either way, if you're looking to catch your first rockfish below OHD is your best bet. Wait until the weather warms up and they'll move back into the Caney.
