I'm going to try turkey hunting this spring but haven't been on any WMA's, etc. in years. Where would be a good place to start?

1. Shelby Forest
2. Wolf River
3. Chickasaw
4. Tulley
5. Natchez Trace
6. (Open to Suggestion)

Don't know for sure, but I think 1 and 2 will take more than one year to draw.

Mike, can't a retired postal worker like yourself afford an extra $1500 to turkey hunt at Ames? ;\)

WMAn...I like to turkey hunt but not enough to get in on strictly a turkey lease. Ames has birds but I really don't see many during deer season. Us retired postal workers can only afford 1 lease anyway, lol.

The floods in recent years have the numbers at shelby forest pretty low. I would second LBL. The birds are hard to kill (most of them are gay) but there are plenty to keep you busy. Since you are retired and can hunt during the week when the crowds are away Tully would be worth a look too. Never hunted the others.

Natchez Trace has a good population of birds......Hunt during the middle of the week and you will have most of the area to yourself.

LBL is my favorite......Lots of birds.
