I have been tinkering with the idea of a bolt rifle for medium range,,500 to 1,000 yards,,my 223 does really well to 600 and the 338 is a hammer 900 out,,
I am looking at data for the Lapua X47 and 22-250 case using the 80 gr AMax or 80 Berger bullets about 3400 fps,,I have been running numbers through JBM for 2-3 days and I think the 22-250 with an 8 twist and 80 gr bullets would shoot,,to get a lot better it looks like the 180 7mm bullet with a 284 or SAUM case would be the next step up.
I see Savage makes a 250 with a 9 twist but not sure that wwould do what I want, but the 75 Berger at 3450 will stay supersonic past 1,000 yards so I may try that,,

I to have thought of a 22-250 with a fast twist to shoot heaver bullets, but I keep coming back to a 243 or 6mm to do the same job. Maybe I am missing something.

I am lookin for the best ballistics with the least cost to shoot,,I want high BC and the least amount of powder I can get by with,
an 8 twist 6mm BR would work I suppose,as would the 6.5 Grendel,,

Can't go wrong with the x47 w/ 26" barrel and 130 bergers. Can keep up with the .260 and creed. The creedmoor suffers from soft hornady brass but nosler is about to start making it so when I get my creedmoor I'll be able to push it.

I have been thinking the same thing MR.BIG rebarrel the .243 or the 22-250 for those long heavy bullets. Both shoot really well out to 500 yards, but i think the higher B.C. bullets would be a lot better. I am going with the .243 since I have been buying brass and bullets for this progect for years.jmo

Mr Big Keep us informed on your thoughts on this, as I bounce back inforth in doing the same or staying with my 243 for the long P-Dogs.
