yes, I was hunting some corp property on Cordell hull about 10 years ago. I could see the river from where I was at. I spotted a good 8 point swimming the river and headed almost straight at me. Shot him soon as his feet started touching the bottom, had to wade out knee deep to get him.

I have seen them do the same thing across from Richardson Landing on the Mississippi River they would swim across to a cove about a dozen deer at a time.
