Sauger fishing; anybody have any luck?

I'd like to try to get some Sauger, but my boat is in the shop for a new replacement floor.....Since I'm hearing the tail waters are off limits, how would I go about finding them from the bank and how far down would I have to be to be out of the closed area?

Is the Pickwick tailwaters closed or is it just because the flood gates are open

The Corps is closing the tailwaters on the Cumberland River (NOT the Tennessee River) starting in April.
Everything is still open until then, regardless of where you go.
Pickwick is on the TN River, so it's not affected at all.

Everything that has been published so far that I have read, shows the new regulations will affect only boat traffic. Bank fishing will still be allowed in the tailraces.
