One of the comments says "At least he shot it with a Matthews"
What does that mean? On one hand, it implies that the hunter could not have made the 22 yard shot lethal with any other brand of bow. On the other hand, and in a literal sense, it implies that "if he had to kill it with bow, at least it was a Matthews"

I'm guessing it's a Matthews fan boy sounding off. I'm new to archery and one thing I have really noticed is the intense brand cultism that seems to exist with quite a few bow hunters. Some guys act like they have a sponsorship from the maker of their bow.
Regardless, that is one incredible buck. I don't think it could get any better than taking such a great buck like that with a bow (free range, of course). Right now that is my ultimate hunting goal.

It takes a Mathew to kill a true giant
I don't mean to hijack your thread but here is another true giants. World Record since 1965.
This is not meant to take away from the Mississippi buck, just to answer the asinine comments.

Seems like hunters in MS are breaking the records every year. They are definitely killing some brutes. I was in my taxidermist's shop last week and this MS brute was in there.
Wow - half deer, half moose.
Any idea whether it was free-range or high fence?

It was a free-range deer killed in Benton County, Mississippi. I green-scored the buck at 207 4/8 gross, 195 6/8 net non-typical.

Any idea whether it was free-range or high fence? Free range and if I recall correctly, killed by a juvenile to boot.

Not much high fence hunting going in MS. I have only personally ever seen one high fence club in North MS. They are a large property right in the middle of the Holly Springs Ntl Forrest. I think they do it largely to keep the deer dogs out.

Not sure. Its the only high fence I have noticed, so we may be talking about the same one.

Buck of a lifetime. Wonder where it was killed? Olive Branch, right?
Also saw he was using Spitfires. Lots of bow folks bash the mechanicals. Guess that one did the trick.
