I don't on my sidehammer muzzleloader. I hunt with it a few times a yr back in some thicker cover where shots will be short. My Omega sports a scope though.

I have a T/C Greyhawk, no scope or mounts. Just the original open sights on it. 50 cal.

i hunted with iron sights until last year.
never had a problem.

I have a .45 Kentucky rifle that I build from a kit. I hunt with it sometimes and it does not have a scope. Acutally killed my first MZ deer with it using a round ball.

good out to around 80 yards with my tc renegade .50 with a dead on hold. then its hold on the top of the spine from 90-110 yards the bullet will drop between 4 -10 inches at those ranges after playing around at cheatham range over the years. but the farthest i have ever shot a deer is 42 left steps on my pace count of 65 for 100 meters, which is right around 70-75 yards i take a real fine bead in the bottom of my rear sight. some day i will probably have to get an inline and scope it out hopefully not till im in my sixties, i am now 44

I have over under scope mounts and have shoot a fox facing me at appx. 60 yards and a deer at about 40 yards with my open sights. I have also shot several using the scope (NiKon 2-7). I trust my open sights as much as my scope. I keep the scope on there for picking them out in the heavy brush and because I have one on my rifle so it just seems comfortable to have it there.
