It finally quit raining long enough to get back in to some Perry County river bottoms looking for some swampers. We started slow with a heavy frost on the ground but when things took off they never slowed down. We ended up killing 20 swampers and 13 hillbillies 33 in all. Toward the end of the day we had several get away but we will gladly leave them for future good times. We needed a bigger tail gate for this one, we had to lay some on top of others but still made for a good pick.

Man that brings back memories. I din't know anywhere stll had rabbits in those numbers. I thought the yotes kept them cleaned out. Great hunt!

Na we had 14 dogs in all. We split them up and hunted half the first part of the day and the other half the second half of the day.

That is really good.And here I was gonna post about our day yesterday.We only have 2 dogs, but the dogs ran from 10am till 4pm when we left,we only got 2 of them though, should have been 3,but I didn't do my part.Thats alot of rabbit.

I bet you had a ball. I can remember hunts like that but it's been awhile. I used to hit the bottoms for swampers and sometimes I'd pick a few up in areas not far from bottoms. You can sure tell when the dogs are running a swamp rabbit versus a cottontail. I loved to fill my hunting coat with them or slip their heads under my belt until I had to make the trek back to the truck. Those jokers will get heavy.
