Depends on what you want it for. A guy on our lease has the 400 or 500 and when we planted our food plots he had several hundred pounds of seed in the bed and then he and his two boys riding in the cab. Seemed to not have any trouble. That said I'd get the 800 if you can swing it. Rather have too much than not enough. My brother-in-law bought a 2012 800XP fullsize and its nice.

It is well worth $1100 more for the difference in a 500 and 800,no matter whether you are talking about a fourwheeler or side by side

I never once hear anyone that got an ATV with a large motor say they wish they had gotten the smaller motor. I cannot make that statement in reverse.

i have. i know a guy that bought one of the big 660 yamahas that wished he had my 400 instead.
