Line conditioner will help make it more manageable. What brand did you get?
Get out in the yard or somewhere you can peel off about 2 cast worth of line. Tie the line to something and just walk the line off. Get you an old piece of tshirt or something like that and drench it with conditioner. Use the drenched cloth between your thumb and index finger with the line in it and reel the line back on the reel keeping tension like when you first spool the line.

I think it's the Berkeley 100% fluorocarbon. That's pretty good stuff. Stay away from the Vanish and the cheap Viscious. The pro grade Viscious is ok.

Yeah, gotta throw those back! Keeping them is unsporting and uncivilized. Better to let them die slowly of oxygen deprivation in 3 months...
