I have a 500 it has all the power you need. The 500 is a single cyl. and is very smooth running.

I had a 700 and it was fun where you could open it up and go. In the woods, getting a deer out, it sucked. Too big, wouldn't turn for crap, and just too much torque in low gear to maneuver around.
Recently bough a new Honda Foreman 500 with EPS and Fuel injection. A lot easier to deal with in the bushes.
If you want BIG, Can Am has a new one that's 1100 cc's and comes with 30 inch tires stock. For $14899, you can run over trees, part mud holes and do around 70 mph. http://www.canamoffroad.com/atv/outlander-x-mr/xmr1000/package-overview#

The 800 is the way to go it's all around better of you get the 500 you'll regret not getting the 800 especially for just 1100 more dollars that's nothing for the difference in motor.
