I think everyones thats hunted out of one has taken the "Baker Slide" some time or another. That thing changed deer hunting tho.

I still have a couple of them and they were the beginngs of a new era of deer hunting from elevated stands. First came the stand and then the adapter for a seat. All I miss from the old Bakers is the weight. They weighed next to nothing and packed flat. They were an accident waiting to happen.

Don't EVEN try to demonstrate how those things work on a light pole. I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

I have my dads old one in the shed with a piece of dangling rope to put your feet in while sitting. I cant believe he let me use it when I was 15.

I was about 16 when I bought mine. I bought a small folding stool that I could use to set on the platform. Climbed at tree at Chuck Swan unfolded my stool sat down and started to reach down to pull my bow up and here we went. Slid down that tree at a high rate of speed hit the ground and my little stool exploded. Wound up over in the leaves unscathed. I still laugh when I think about it.

I think there are quite a few of us, lol! I still remember my last hunt with a borrowed one back in the early 90's. I did kill a deer, a heavy bodied 6pt. I have one in my basement somewhere.

Well you all could use it as a lender for some you don't like to use it then they will never ask again to barrow something.
