Say a security detail, so a retired police officer and a retired navy seal both working a security detail to protect a CEO of a bank. The retired police officer can carry a one but the navy seal can not. I am sorry that is bs. If you amend it to allow retired LEO then you just opened it to anyone. Now i disagree on the ban altogether but there is no reason to have an exemption for retired people. If you want to use your justification it should have an exemption for anyone that is lisc and trained to provide security.

Lets not forget that many police officers have made themselves a target for the gangs and organized crime elements.

Active is an easy one.... Even when the ban went into place in the early 90s the police were still able to have high capacity magazines. I know some wouldn't agree but you always want the police to have more rounds than the bad guys.... \:\) [/quote]

You mean to be on a level playing field dont you, the bad guys are NOT gonna give the 7 round law a passing thought.....

The ban on having high-capacity magazines, as it's written, would also include law enforcement officers.

Guys - don't beat up on those politicians too much! Heck, they had to pass that bill in order to see what was in it!

While I agree with that statement, I think we should be thinking . . . . . . always want the law-abiding citizen good guys to have more rounds than the bad guys.

Similarly, I believe any gun laws imposed on the common man should be imposed on the elites, meaning if they deny the common citizen his 2nd Amendment rights, they should not be allowed to have armed body guards or "special" carry permits not available to any citizen.

Take away the special privileges the elite politicians give to themselves (in terms of gun rights and armed guards) and they would nearly all quickly affirm our full 2nd Amendment rights, even in Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Biggest problem today in America may be political hypocrisy, and the class/group warfare/division it causes when certain groups are given exemptions from the laws imposed on the common man, mainly because of politics, economic status, etc.

"State Senator Eric Adams, a former NYPD Captain, told us he's going to push for an amendment next week to exempt police officers from the high-capacity magazine ban. In his words, "You can't give more ammo to the criminals"

So we are the criminals? or
They can give more ammo to the criminals than what we are legally allowed to own? that is if we lived in New York.

The real lesson here is that the State Senator has unwittingly admitted something he would probably rather not concede, that this bill gives an advantage to criminals.

ALL gun control laws do that!

Should make them all equal because the law was passed for 7 max bullets, so that's all the bad guys will be allowed to have also. It's the law you know.

This New York law once they change it to help LEO's will make the LEO's AND crimals BETTER armed than the law abiding taxpaying New York citizen.
