I got one in my backyard about 10 years ago. It was a Saturday morning and I was cooking pancakes. Looked out the window and the yard was full of does and some bucks were wandering in chasing them around. I got my 25-06 and slipped out to the sunroom and eased the door open. When a pretty good wide 6 point came out, I lowered the boom on him. It was about 165 yards - the longest shot on a deer for me at that time. (I have a long narrow yard.) IT's definitely convenient to get one in the yard, isn't it? Congratulations.
On point of interest here is that this was the year I had fertilized the white oaks in my yard and I saw lots more deer back there that Fall than ever before or since.

Tell ya something interesting. Local town here called Amherst (I'm back in Buffalo, NY). A co-worker has SLAPPED deer eating his garden flowers. Place is overrun with backyard deer and apparently no one owns archery equipment. 2 successive light winters (and 2 more not so bad) and the herd has exploded. Last year my Boss had 3 car-deer collisions.
