Ferg, you refer to the "Gun Control Act of 1968."
Ther is also the 1986 ban on manufacture of new full autos for civilians, although the military and LE communities can get them. Full autos that existed before 1986 are transferable amongst civilians, but there are no new ones, this is one thing that makes them expensive to purchase in the first place.

Do you need me to explain why I *need* the First Amendment? No? Then why are you asking me to explain why I *need* the 2nd?

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms refers to Arms you can carry.
The intention of the Second Amendment was to enable the citizens to have the same weapons as the Government. We the People are the Militia.
This is the same question the idiot that was giving the TV interview in W. VA made. I saw it on here. the guy in the interview said that proponents of the 2nd just want what a standard infantry solder carries. i.e. m-16, 240, S.A.W. and the idiot comes back with so you think we should own nukes? Unfortunately we are arguing with a brainwashed and very ignorant opponent, who thinks this is a valid and logical argument....

I would be fine without a nuke. Just a standard f15 with heat sinkers, some wicked canons, and a few daisy cutters.
