Never been. Going to try it out sometime this year. What kind of tackle would I need? Really looking foward to it. Never caught a trout. Thanks.

Trout are non existent in fayetteville. I have found the best trout fishing is within 12 miles from the dam. However the trout fishing can be excellent year round and I personally like the winter months to avoid the crowds.

A black rooster tail with a gold blade on 4 lb line is about all you need unless you want to go the live bait route .

I've been thinking of fly fishing the Elk down that way one of these days.

I fish the elk a lot around fayetteville and haven't ever caught one and don't ever see anyone trout fishin. I don't fish for them often but up toward Lexi and the dam alittle. I may have to try and catch some.

park at the access below the dam and walk to the first bend about a quarter mile down. If fly fishing wade out to the shelf about 4 ft deep and fish the deep hole with weighted nymphs under strike indicators very near the bottom. Bead head prince works very well. If using spinning gear then throw a small rooster tail. My personal favorite color is white. If fishing live bait then night crawlers on bottom is very effective. There is good fishing before the bend but the best is in the bend. Be there at daylight and make sure they are not generating

I think that in the past TWRA did do a winter trout stocking in one of the parks some where in the Fayetville city limits. But that would be the only time I would count on a trout in the Elk/Fayeteville area that far below Tims Ford.

A can of whole kernel corn is all you need for bait.LOL... Put about 4 kernels on a hook with a split shot sinker about a foot above the hook and fish it down stream with a tight line.
