In the back of there pickup truck? If all goes as planned I will let you know how it goes. I am hauling it from Chattanooga to Monteagle mtn. Wish me luck. I have three rachet straps and I am going to put some rocks in the back of the boat against the cab.

If the back of the boat extends more than 4 ft beyond the end of the truck, you will need a red flag in daylight or lights after dark to be legal. Ask Bowriter.

I hauled my 14 ft in my short bed once, while I was still looking for a good deal on a trailer. It hung out pretty far, but got the job done. Left the tailgate down and ratchet strapped it to the bed.

Sure, done it several times. The front of the boat sticks out, but it's no biggie, just tie a red rag/bandana on the part that sticks out. I used a LONG rope, thread it through handle at the front of the boat, then criss cross it and loop it around the handles (don't know the proper term) in the bed of the truck and tie it down. Never had a problem.

I never had a problem doing this, although most of the time it was a 12-footer (but it was a short bed truck, so not a lot different).

The trolling motor, battery, and other crap we threw in the back of it helped keep it from doing any funny business.

Me and a friend of mine borrowed a 14' boat from a friend of our one day. It was on a trailer. 5 miles from the guys house, both of the dry rotted tires blew up. Took it off the trailer and threw it in the back of my short bed Ford without problems. When we got to the river my buddy pulled the front of the boat out and I got in the bed to get the back. I jumped off the tailgate with the boat in hand. I had two wads of hair and skin the size of golf balls laying on top of my tennis shoes where the boat scraped down my legs on the way down. Not the smartest thing I've done.
