Islamist militants reportedly holding 7 Americans hostage, among others
Islamist militants from Mali have attacked and taken control of a natural gas field partly owned by BP in southern Algeria, killing two and reportedly taking 41 people hostage, including seven Americans.
A group called the Katibat Moulathamine, or the Masked Brigade, called a Mauritanian news outlet to say one of its subsidiaries had carried out the operation on the Ain Amenas gas field, taking 41 hostages from nine or 10 different nationalities.

In any circumstances, the outlook for the American hostages would be bleak. At this particular point in time, I'd say it borders on hopeless. Look for more such incidents in Africa and eleswhere. Our enemies daily grow more bold.

I'm afraid you are correct, especially on the bold part. America's main concern these days is distraction, hyperbole and "infotainment".
real problems and real solutions have no place at the table or in the news.

I read something this morning that indicates all hostages are now dead...
I guess the Algerians really bothed up that rescue... Twice...
The Algerian Army kinda reminds me of the military scene from "The Gods Must Be Crazy".
Ya know, come to think of it, our Kenyan Muslim in Chief kinda reminds me of the sheer stupidity portrayed in that movie.
