The Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T), a traveling film festival now entering its seventh year, has become the entertainment event of the year for America’s diverse fishing community. In 2012 the Film Tour screened in over 85 North American cities and provided a venue to showcase some of the country’s best independent outdoor film makers. The goal of F3T is to energize the industry and inspire film makers to create new cutting edge films that both entertain and educate outdoor enthusiasts.

Yes, it's somewhat like the Warren Miller flicks. Folks send in their fishing video (film shorts), and the producers pick the best ones and make a film out of it. These videos are bigtime professionally done.

The videography is amazing with the scenery around the world and the close-ups of the fish taking the fly. The crowd gets into it and starts hooping and hollering at the size of the fish or especially when the fish slams the fly.

I'm not so sure if you can buy the exact Film Tour film, but many of the filmmakers chosen have their own DVDs. I've got a couple of them. An excellent one promoted by the Film Tour is "Off the Grid." Another good one that I don't think has anything to do with the Tour is "Fish Bum I: Mongolia."

I don't think they sell DVDs at the show. They give away shirts and hats and draw for prizes. They sell beer at the shows, too.
