Yep, glad you got all that meat. If you think about it, let us know if you notice any difference in taste. I'd just be curious to know is all.
A buddy of mine went to Texas to some sort of Fleet Mgt show, one of those "business trips". Someway, somehow they were able to work an angle and one of the vendors knew someone that allowed them to hunt on their ranch. This vendor must have not been nearly as successful as the business Vermin is in though because my buddy was only allowed to shoot a "cull" buck and it couldn't have more than 6 points. It was the first and probably only time my buddy would ever get to do something like this so he was cool with it of course - and it was FREE for the most part. However, while sitting in the blind with his guide the guide kept pointing out deer to him saying, "You see that one there, that's a $25,000 deer. You see that one there, that's a $50,000 deer. We probably wouldn't let someone shoot that one. If someone wanted to shoot that one, we'd discourage it, but it'd be about a $15,000 deer." He just kept running through all these scenarios and prices. It was pretty interesting to see how deer hunting in TX is primarily a business. My buddy did end up killing a wide, tall 6 pointer that I doubt any Tennessean would pass up. I doubt the majority of Texas hunting is like that.

I might have to disagree, maybe not the whole state, but make no mistake its BIG business in Texas. You ever been there? I haven't. I bet for vast regions it is more the norm than the exception. Vermin could probably tell us better since he lives in Dallas and went on the hunt.

....ie. Giles Island .....Free ranging but same as high fence.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Water to deer is just part of life. Deer will hit it in a split second, especially if it's the difference between life and death. I have documented many deer swimming the MS River while out surveying in a boat. One was a 4-5 month old fawn and she did not have any problem swimming from MS to AR right behind her mother. Carry on.

Sitting in a box blind over a food plot with a protein feeder in a 1000 acre pen that's chock full of big bucks is not hunting, it's shooting. I know - I just did it. Finally a hunter that does not let his/her ego get in the way of the truth. I agree with you 110%. I have several friends/acquaintances that have done it as well and their opinion is the same as yours.
Their motto ought to be "Hunts for guys who can't hunt". Amen!
Having said that, I am by no means slamming your high fence trip. Congrats on your experience, the circumstances leading up to the hunt (business trip with bosses etc) would most likely result in most invitees going, whether they agreed with high fence hunting or not. Again, congrats and thanks for being honest and sharing your experience.

I would go if I were in your shoes, but I really believe I would be miserable- except at meal times.

High fence buck at kill site in food plot. Feeder in background and elevated box blind in distant background. The Polaris dropped me off right at the blind. Zero scent control needed. The only skill required was a little patience and the ability to make a 120 yd shot while staring at a big rack. My Thompson Center ICON chambered in 30 TC and shooting 150 GR SST's is 4 for 4 on nice bucks. It's easily the most accurate rifle I have. Check out that cool ear tag! I do think the bent right G1 is pretty neat. Buck gross scored just over 205.

Shed from a freak buck they call medusa. They found the other shed the next day. They were ridiculously heavy. I have no idea how that buck carried them around. His neck must have been huge.
Shed from another freak buck on the ranch
