Interesting story on this deer. I finally caught up to the son who 's parents live on an adjoining property I hunt. I never got a single trail camera pic of this deer. When I asked if he wanted to swap trail camera pics, I had no idea he was going to have a 6 year old pic of a deer on my wall! He also had a pic of another one that still gives me nightmares from 3 years ago when my mzl misfired. Anyways, the taxidermist aged this deer at 2.5, lol. What are your guesses before I post the jawbone pic?

3.5 minimum, but I'd believe 4.5 or older. I have never seen a 2.5 year old buck with tarsals stained like that. Dark stained tarsals in itself is a sign of an older buck to me. It has proved to be a good indicator for the ones I have checked over the last 4-5 years (dark tarsals typically equate to worn down teeth). I'm sure there are exceptions to this, but I pay a lot of attention to tarsals when I'm hunting and checking trail cam pics. Looking forward to seeing the jawbones.
