I want to build a shooting house that allows me to shoot prone. Reason being is I have some shots up to 600 yards. I shoot long range quite often with my rifle with bipod and the weapons Uncle Sam lets me use. I'm thinking a 7x7 floor so my barrel doesn't hang out of the blind. The roof I guess I can call it that lol, will be 8x8 to allow for shading in the blind. I want to put enough slope in the roof so I can sit up in the middle and not hit my head lol. The gap from the base of the roof to the floor will be 2 1/2 feet. with a 2x4 on narrow side at edges on each side of the floor. I have enough camo netting to drape from corner to corner to hide my silhouette. Now I just have to figure out how high to put it up. I'm thinking 10 feet may go less as I don't want to mess up my close range shots. What yall think?

well if its for hunting and its going to be stationary i would worry mnore about my hearing than the gun barrel hanging out how many hours are you planing on spending in there at a time? is the area you will be hunting a 360 degreefield of fire? when we built ours we built them with ledges for gun support and the roof high enough where we could stand up to pee 10 feet seems to be a good height though we've plans to built a 15 foot one soon if you are around ft hood the cold probably wont be much of an issue if i was wanting a prone possibility for my stands i would probably put a hinged panel along the lower side and built it where i could hunt uptight also

The place I hunt is in TN. I can lay prone for long periods of time. FOV will be 180 degrees.

I think one issue you might have with it 10 feet up is keep it steady enough for 600 yard shots. If you have any wind the problem is compounded.
I love the idea and look forward to seeing the photos, good luck.

Its gonna be heavy, getting it in the air is gonna be the fun part. It'll be the first of April before I start on it, when I take leave for turkey season.
