If they dont have tags and are on public land and are illegal either way,cant you just remove them or would that also be illegal?
Normally I would but if they were legal I didn't want to be the jerk messing with a lawful persons gear. It is called in now, and will hopefully be handled shortly

Id sure like to see a picture of the trap as big as a garbage can.. sounds like a bear trap.. probably worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars.. its people like him that give all the legal trappers a bad name.. glad your dog didnt get into the big one..

Bear traps, good ones at least, (Duke makes several models), run between $200 and $300 new.
