well, I got this nagging itch to go see if I could find her jaws. I went to where I disposed of the carcasses from my first 3 does from bow season, and recovered all 3 intact jaws. One is 2.5, one is 3.5 or 4.5, and the oldest I believe is the Ole Nanner Head I killed on October 5th (my first bow kill, first doe). I am guessing 5.5. First here are the pics of the deer, and then the jawbone pics. I will boil the bones, scrub them and use a bit of super glue to keep them intact. I'd like to have a collection of intact jawbones from all age groups and so far my collection is off to a good start.

Here are her jaws

I would say 4.5, could be older though. One thing is certain, that is a huge doe with the longest face I have ever seen!

She was atleast 4.5 and I was thinking 5.5 but I'm not that good at aging to be confident. Did you weigh her?

Guys, that is 5.5+. I might believe 6.5 if somebody tried to make the argument.

I have the jaws from a buck that most people aged at 5.5. Side by side the bucks teeth are noticeably older than this doe so I doubt she is over 4.5 now that I look at it. Both deer came from the exact same place. But if she's 5 then I would believe it too, doesn't seem far fetched.

I just looked at it again and I was wrong. Not sure what I was looking at. Looks 4.5 I guess I picked the wrong day to quit drinking. \:\)
