Man and I went to our neighborhood pond we fish alot and caught a few bass.
Nothing huge but we had fun.

It went from "kinda" raining to "soak your underwear wet" in a matter of 3.2 seconds.
By the time we got in the truck, another 3.2 seconds later, we were totally soaked.

Swung by the house and put on some dry clothes and headed out to the country club.

After we got there I caught a bass within 3 minutes of my first cast.

We fished about an hour after that and not so much as a nibble.

If one will bite, why not more?
I will never understand that.

I hate it web you get to the water, catch a fish right away, and think "yeah, this is gonna be a good day of fishing" and then not another bite after that. Still beats a good day at work

i had a friend(now deceased) that fished with us some. one year during the late winter white bass(stripe) run for several days in a row, he would catch a fish on the first cast and not get another bite the rest of the day. after 4 or 5 dayss of that, he showed up the next morning and caught another fish on his first cast. he released the fish, packed his stuff and left without another cast. \:D

I had a friend as well (now deceased) swear the same. Every time we went fishing we'd cast that first cast just hoping not to catch one! LOL

That's why you purposely screw up the first cast.

I did almost just that a few weeks ago. Was wearing the crappie out for about 2 hours and they just quit! I was thinking with the sun coming through the clouds and warming the water the slabs would be getting into it...started checking the Lowrance and found the fish had moved from the 10 feet of water I was fishing into about 4 feet of water and 150 yards or so down the river I was fishing. Started catching them again and got some good slabs too!

I pulled up to the boat ramp on a bar pond one time, not real sure if I was going to fish it or not, I pulled my rod out and made a cast, you guessed it I caught a nice fat 3 pound bass! I could not get the boat in fast enough, fished all the way around that pond and never even got a nibble. ;\)

I will never understand that.

Did you release the bass??
reason for asking..
I was watching bassmasters one day and one of the pros said that when he was pre-fishing for a tournament..he never throws and of the caught fish back until he is leaving for the day.. he swears if you throw one back..it will go and "tell" (for lack of a better word.. ) the others.. In my own pond, when it was full of catfish.. you could catch one or 2 and they would get spooked from all the splashing and would get lockjaw..
