I went out today to pull my cards from my cameras and got some pictures of a new buck. I have pictures of him on the 4, 5,and 6. but on the 8th he came back and had dropped his right side. and by the 10th he had dropped the other side. could this warm weather have the deer dropping early. is anyone else seeing this yet.

I always see deer loose them this early that's why you gotta be careful if you kill one late season about dragging him out ive seen people pull the horns right off.

stress in the herd will cause early shedding also. Usually late Feb. early March before we find any sheds in the food plots.

I hear of early drops on here every year since I joined so I think it's normal for a few stressed deer to drop early but the majority will drop feb thru April, unless its like last year when shed hunting sucked, it greened up early and bucks dropped late. Hope this year peaks in march as I can not wait to find some fresh bone with white pedicles.

I don't think it has anything to do with stress... i live in a neighborhood with tons of deer and he majority of them drop in January and i find a lot of sheds in jan. And i don't beleieve all those deer are stressed out i think a lot of deer shed way earlier then people think.

I drive a train and see deer every trip I take. Ive seen deer with one side in january and ive seen a 8pt in Marietta Georgia on April 2, 2010 that still held both sides of his 8pt rack. Who knows why they drop or when.

BSK would have a better idea of it though.

i see it at many of our farms to we try to keep pressure down and we have very health food. I mean it very well may be stress but I think they all drop different and most drop a lot earlier then we realize. I may be very wrong would like to hear what bsk has to say about it.
