Well, as most of you know, I was only home from Afghanistan from the 22nd of Dec until this past Sunday. With travelling back and forth to Indiana for the holidays, I was very limited in the amount of time I had to hit the woods.

But I cherish that time no matter how short it is - there is no better therapy in my opinion; no matter what I've had to put up with thru the year, some time in the woods lets me recharge.

My main goal for the year was to get my wife her first deer. She has been hunting with me the past three years and had yet to seal the deal. Well, this year that all changed! She ended up with a total of four deer (and her first deer was a small buck that she is sooo proud of, lol).

Thanks to Justin (jmb4wd) for his help with the food plots again this year!

Here is the spike - not much of a picture, we weren't able to find it the first two days and ended up having some help from the buzzards to locate it:

Here are pics of two of the does she got, didn't end up with pics of the third:

It was definitely a successful year! I was having some serious reservations about hunting....thinking that maybe it just wasn't meant to be and that it was just something i wasn't good at. I love guns and i'm a great shot with whatevers in my hands but the last 2 years i had been greatly disappointed. So when i bagged my first deer and it was a buck i was sooooo happy and excited! Within 4 days i had bagged 3 more! I am now a true hunter for life.

And i must add that i have an amazing husband that worked very hard to make it happen. He didn't even care if he got one as long as i did. I'm a very lucky girl. Love you babe!

And many many many thanks to Justin! He put some long hours and hard work into our property! He made sure the deer got fed over the summer and made our property ideal for deer.

Matter of fact I did - it was laying in some tall grass about 100ft away from the blind \:D

Next time I'm home I plan on trying to re-attach it with some pop rivets or something. I did make sure to secure the blind this time with a ratchet strap and a couple of those dog leash holders that screw into the ground.
