How much would a good hog hunting dog go for? The reason why i ask is i was thinking about get a few hog dogs and going to other states and see what happens.

I'm not looking for Pitbulls i'm looking in more like walkers and stuff like that.

fredfred If you can help me find a couple of hog dogs i would be greatly thankful

Oh I could help you but a finiched hog dog will most likely cost you between $1000 and $3000. A started hog dog you can pick up for a couple hundred and pups go from free to 300. It really just depends on what you want them to do. The problem is most dogs that can rig a hog can also rig a bear and that drives the price sky high. You can ether by a good dog and hunt or but a started dog and spend the time it needs to finish, if it finishs.

Oh i c only thing i would like the dogs to do is get it bayed up and then keep it there until me or one of my brothers get there to kill it.

i know someone with some coon hounds that hasn't started training yet. I might be able to get them for little to nothing and i will need some advice on training them.

Sometimes a trashy coon hound can be turned into a hog dog. Look for one that runs game good but won't tree like they want it too

i know where a lot of them things is. I had one a few months ago that will run anything but would not tree a coon.

how is the best way to train a dog to hunt hogs? I know someone that has some pigs but i think they are mixed with wild boer and potbelly. but i not for sure thou.

I just know they are mean as heck when you go up the pen to feed them.

This reminds me of an old man one time. He said with bear and hogs, you never see an old dumb bear or hog dog...lol.

I will say, its a committment. Your wasting your time if your only gonna run'em 3 or 4 times a year. To get'em right, you better be prepared to travel and work'em 12months/year.
