I've never even trolled or long lined spider rig etc. I just cast 1 jig at a time with ultralight rod and reel with 4lb line. I don't ever buy minnows unless I take a kid or someone with me insist[/quote]

I'm the same way. It's more fun casting anyhow. Feeling the "tick" of the strikes, knowing when to set the hook...that's all part of what makes it "fishing" for me. If I was trying to fill up a giant cooler to feed a huge crowd, then I might do things differently. Then again, I'm not an accomplished crappie fisherman...
