Does anyone know of a wma around Nashville that has fox squirrels on it. I have been hunting Percy priest and have not seen one yet. Never killed a fox squirrel. They were protected where I use to live. Any suggestions would be great.

I would think that anywhere around Nashville would have fox squirrels, but I can't say that for sure. I do know that AEDC has some.

I grew up hunting not far from Cheatham WMA and we had a lot of them.
Take an air rifle to Hermitage Golf course. The ones that live there are huge!

I have never hunted up there but I am sure there are plenty of them. It seems like the farther north you go the more there are. Im from AL and when I grew up hunting around here it almost like the 8th wonder of the world to see one. Now we have land in South TN and we kill them all the time.
Not telling you how to hunt or what to do, but fox squirrels seem to like field edges, fence rows, and cedar or pine trees. They also seem to move more during the middle of the day, with the sun out and real pretty and maybe kinda warm.

Do you see them in the same kind of areas as greys? Yeh same areas but fox squirrels aren't as loud and don't move quiet like a grey squirrel does. That's just my opinion though, seems like there a lot more deliberate with there movements than the grey squirrels are.

I've seen fox squirrels at aedc nearly as big asa small cat. They do move more quietly than grays and usually don't hang around very long if they see you.

Yanahli WMA has a few but not many. I hope to kill one in the morning actually, should be a squirrel massacre with my 12 gauge. Maybe a big red one will show himself. I know of at least one spot where I saw one during deer season.
