Bought a boat.

Paid taxes on said boat at County Clerks office. Was given "Application for Boat Certificate of Number" and "Registration Fees" page.

The year / registration placard on the side of the boat matches the Hull ID Number.

The ID plaque on the inside of the boat states it is a model 1650VJF. Measured from transom to bow at 15' 9 1/2". Seems to qualify as a "16Ft and Under."

I received a "Return Application Notice" in the mail today stating that

x "Incorrect Fee"
and
x "Other: boat is listed as 18ft which puts it into a different fee range."

I spoke with a boating officer and he told me to contact the office tomorrow, and they would probably need me to bring the boat to Ellington to have it inspected.

I'm planning on just taking the boat to work tomorrow, since I live in M'boro and work in Lebanon, and since school doesn't let out until 2:50 I wouldn't make it back, then to Nashville. (Does that make sense???)

Any idea why this might have happened? Just seems like an odd deal to me. I was wanting to go fishing saturday, even though its supposed to rain, but am afraid to with just the temporary registration since its come back different?

You can still go fishing. The yellow sheet, that you kept when sending off for your TWRA registration card, is your registration until the card comes in the mail. I think it says so on the yellow sheet. The TN numbers on the front sides of the boat transfer directly. Do not remove them. You are good to go...Make sure you have the yellow sheet with you while operating the boat...
