I believe these are administered through TWRA if I'm not mistaken. So my local Wallyworld has LOTS of ammo they've received since last Friday, and they can't sell it due to running out of the 10 cent ammunition tax stamps. They had about 30-40 stamps left last Friday and can't get them? So has TWRA run out of them? Can they not relatively quickly have more printed up? Has the print provider for them gone under? Do you need another supplier? Surely the print vendor has available print cycles he'd like to sell. Whats the deal?

Walmart may have not re-ordered stamps. Same with hunting and fishing guides, lots of times when they run short someone drops the ball and fails to reorder.

Supposedly they've ordered them and have been waiting for them since last week.

I just checked with the person in charge of the ammo tax stamp sales for TWRA and was advised that we have them in stock and are filling orders. We have an emergency shipment due to arrive any day, and another regular shipment that is being printed this week.

It sounds to me that this one is on that store. By their corporate policy they may have to order their stamps through their corporate office in AR. If they drive over to our sales office they can buy them today.

While I agree with you on "this one", this thread has just broadened my thinking regarding how the feds COULD quickly make new ammunition unavailable.

So what if TWRA prints (or had the stamps printed) at present. With the stroke of a pen, these stamps could no longer come thru TWRA.

Or, by the same stroke of the pen they could remove any stamp requirements.

Not all states have ammo tax stamps. I worked for Kmart (1981-1997) in AL,GA,TN during the days when they used to have a real sporting goods dept.AL still does not have a ammo tax stamp. GA used to not have a ammo tax stamp-not sure about now a days. TN always had the ammo tax stamp. It is a interesting thought about ammo control through the tax stamp. As far as Walmart being out of ammo tax stamps that is there fault. The seller has to order them.

Our 4h trap team shot a competition at the big range in Clarksville a few years ago.. they would not let you bring in ammo from another state and use it unless it had a TN tax stamp on it.. A officer came by and checked each box, took his pocket knife and marked a X on each one after he looked at it..

When I worked at Kmart in TN I had to place a stamp on each box that I sold. I could not juts place 10 stamps on a case. Man that made for some long days putting stamps on shotgun shells boxes when dove season rolled around.

So can an individual actually purchase the stamps and walk into a store and whip out a set of stamps?
