Hey guys, had surgery this morning for a bunch of shoulder problems. MRI had shown a 60% rotator cuff tear as well as weight lifters shoulder and bone spurs. Actually had a 95% tear and they shaved off part of my clavicle and took out 2 bone spurs. They did put a catheter in my neck that pumps in pain killers to my shoulder for a few days as well as the usual pain killers.

Got a lot of rehab to do but any prayers would be appreciated. Thanks fellas !!

Lifted - I'm putting that off - for as long as I can stand it - I'm telling you getting older is NOT for the faint of heart ! \:D \:D

Had my left shoulder replaced December 18th, and doing rehab. Hope all goes well. Rotator Cuff surgery is a little more intense than replacement.

Prayer just sent for your recovery. I have had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders. I am going to be honest and let you know that rehab is going to hurt. However, you have to do this for your shoulder to improve. I have a friend that did not do the rehab as instructed and his shoulder never got better.

If you do the rehab you will be fine. \:\)

Guys I really appreciate it. I like getting the honest replies. And, Ferg, you are correct. I just turned 46 last week. Getting old is not for the feint of heart!!

I also put it off as long as I could. Finally decided to do it when I couldn't roll over in bed. One piece of advice if you do it, take the the option of the neck catheter with non narcotic pain medicine. It is set on a timer and every so often it automatically releases meds into your shoulder. It's supposed to last for 2 days and then you take your oral pain meds. Once its empty you just pull it out of your neck.

For those of you contemplating this I will post updates on recovery.

Update on the first night after surgery. Slept in a recliner and woke up about 1am with terrible pain. Took a percocet before bed and it made me have vivid dreams. Think I jerked my arm during a dream. I do have a dull pain now but not real bad. If anybody is contemplating this I will be in therapy in 2 weeks and will give all the advice I can.
